So MathJax v3 needs to be packaged as a new source and binary package, therefore this bug is RFP, not a request for upgrade. Actually, an RFP was already filed, so I am merging this bug into that. I am not going to do it myself because I don't have any nodejs or typescript skills (the source code [2] is using them now), but if you or someone else who reads this believes they can handle it, please do it.
