Package: totem-xine Version: 1.2.1-3 Severity: normal Totem does not redraw window border areas not occupied by video to black. There is fixed bug #242150 which apparantly dealt with that problem on initialization, which does indeed seem to be fixed.
Borders are always initialized to black, but when they are drawn over by totem itself they will not be refreshed. (Refresh events from other X windows seem to be handled correctly.) This is most noticeable after opening a totem menu or after moving the mouse in full screen. To reproduce: Play video, zoom out to ensure unused border, then open a menu (in window mode) or move mouse (in fullscreen mode).
