Package: libismrmrd1.4
Version: 1.4.2.1-2
Severity: serious

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package fails to upgrade from
'testing'.
It installed fine in 'testing', then the upgrade to 'sid' fails
because it tries to overwrite other packages files without declaring a
Breaks+Replaces relation.

See policy 7.6 at
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#overwriting-files-and-replacing-packages-replaces

>From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

  Preparing to unpack .../libismrmrd1.4_1.4.2.1-2_amd64.deb ...
  Unpacking libismrmrd1.4:amd64 (1.4.2.1-2) ...

/var/cache/apt/archives/libismrmrd1.4_1.4.2.1-2_amd64.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libismrmrd.so.1.4', which is
also in package libismrmrd1.3:amd64 1.4.0-1+b2
  Errors were encountered while processing:
   /var/cache/apt/archives/libismrmrd1.4_1.4.2.1-2_amd64.deb

The versioned constraint (>= 1.4) is unusual but correct in this case,
since the SONAME bump in 1.4 was not accompanied by the mandatory package
rename. Packages built against 1.4.0 have a dependency on
libismrmrd1.3 (>= 1.4.0), thus the oldstable version libismrmrd1.3 (1.3.3-1+b1)
cannot be used to satisfy that and it can be kept co-installable with
libismrmrd1.4

cheers,

Andreas
