Source: libverto
Version: 0.3.1-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

Libverto can be built against either libevent of libev and in Ubuntu
we build it against libevent because long time ago libevent was chosen
to be in the main repository earlier than libev was considered [1].

The benchmarks comparing libev and libevent I've found are very dated
[2] and also the test methodology is questioned [3].

I don't have a better benchmark thus I can't say the libevent is
clearly better than libev, but libevent upstream seemed to be more
active in the recent years and uses decent technology for making it
easy to work with the project compared to libev, where as I see the
code is maintained in CVS and the but tracker seems to be a low
traffic mailing list.

Disclaimer: I'm the libevent package maintainer in Debian.

Given that I could not prove libevent being a clearly better choice
I've filed a merge proposal on Salsa [4] but I don't mind if it is not accepted.

Comments are welcome! Maybe someone has a more recent benchmark or
experience in a project where both libraries were tested and they
performed differently.

Cheers,
Balint
