Hi Marc,
The bug you reported has been fixed upstream, see
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6295
for details. The problematic option turned out to be CONFIG_ATM_CLIP and
Stephen Hemminger has committed the fix to 2.6.16.5, so it should appear
in Debian shortly (hopefully, with the next kernel release in unstable).
Once again, I apologize for my initial lack of judgement.
