I can confirm, that disabling the "Discogs Cover Source" and "MusicBrainz Cover Source" plugins seems to avoid the issue - which makes sense somehow because the affected songs are all unreleased and have no cover at all.
But the weird thing is that here on a second system with the same depending library-versions installed as Ian (gir1.2- and gstreamer-Packages 1.16.2-4 and gir1.2-webkit2-4.0 2.28.2-2+b1) all works fine even with the cover-source-plugins enabled.
