As mentioned on IRC, an arguably preferable option would be to not ship /usr/share/doc/guile-3.0-dev/examples/Makefile.gz in the package at all, instead shipping the relevent Makefile.am/Makefile.in files only, as the generated Makefile contains embedded build-paths in addition to the issues triggered by usrmerge, and would thus need to be regenerated on the end-user's system anyways in order to be practically useful. live well, vagrant
