This doesn't crash when just that test file is run in statsmodels 0.11.1-3 qemu-armel, but this isn't 100% proof that -4 (rather than a dependency) caused it.
-4 (built locally in qemu) doesn't crash that way either, which suggests this bug doesn't show up in qemu, and (given the lack of relevant changes from -3 to -4) probably is caused by a dependency.
