I created a text document:

This is a test document for Calibre txt to epub conversion.
We need to make sure that calibre detects the correct
type of input.

That is from the example send to the bug report.

<foo> = 42

More running text to make sure we have a decent content.

and it converted fine using
ebook-convert bla.txt bla.epub
and the generated epub shows fine.
