Finally I figured it out. Using the intel-driver made it smooth &
fast again as it used to be on this hardware. I had to add this:
>> /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-intel.conf'

Sooo, the "default" driver "glamor" does not work well with
Intel GM45 Express Chipset x86/MMX/SSE2.
Please adjust the support or make it use the intel driver instead.
