Package: hw-probe Severity: wishlist It would be interesting for the Debian Installer to have opt-in support for doing a one-time upload of hardware information using hw-probe.
I envision this working in a similar way to popularity-contest. The d-i pkgsel udeb would add a script to install hw-probe, which would then ask for participation in postinst. If permission is given then hw-probe is run in save+upload mode, saving the probe to the d-i log dir. Then pkgsel will purge the hw-probe package if the probe has not been saved.
