Thats it. My system is a mix of stable and testing.

I have installed:
mount   2.11n-7 install ok installed

Then the behaviour is like I described above: mount as user, unmounting as user
is ok.

Now I tried with:
mount   2.12-10 testing

And there it does not work with a symlinked /etc/mtab !!

Now, is it a feature or a bug. BTS for mount haven't told me.
Perhaps you can make a suggestion how to go on with it.
