I want to use a canon usb scanner Canoscan 630u. The scanner works with a probability of 1 to 50. The conditions whether it will work or not are not clear. A Fujitsu and HP Notebook. With both of them the scanner works as expected. I got the impression that the problem is due to a kernel module which is responsible. Maybe this driver allows a proper exchange of data between the scanner and the machine.
