I noticed this behavior initially on the stretch-backports version, but later
when
I tried the same command on my machine the behavior is reproducible. Below is

These files are either GPG signatures or contents file downloaded from mirror.
In my case since
I was not noticing this it seems to pile up and emptied the root disk space.
That is when I noticed
this. For now in my machine I've a hourly cron job clearing up tmp file but it
would be good to
have a proper fix for the same.
Please let me know if any further information is needed from my side.
