Thanks for looking into this; Audacity still doesn't launch and the same error message is shown. AFAIK it's on a standard testing system (except for the Marillat and tux.org repositories for non-free multimedia stuff) using a custom kernel from Debian sources. However on receiving your email I tried launching a bunch of other applications and found that xmms is also failing to launch and gives a very similar message: Gdk-ERROR **: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) serial 232 error_code 8 request_code 2 minor_code 0 ^^^^ with only the indicated number being different. I'd only be guessing, but does that mean the problem is with some dependency of both of these packages? Do you you know what these messages refer to? It's possible that some part of my installation is dodgy; I have tried reinstalling Audacity, xmms and all the gtk libraries I could find, but no change. In any case, would I be correct in saying that this bug (if it is a bug) is not specific to Audacity? If so, where should I go from here?
