Package: mariadb-10.3 Version: 10.3.22-1 The debian copyright file of the source package is outdated. It still claims that all files in the source are GPL-2 licensed. It does mention various exceptions, but it does not mention that the client library:

License: LGPL-2.1 is LGPL'ed as stated in libmariadb/COPYING.LIB and libmariadb/README Also the files there bear copyright notices like 2000, 2012 MySQL AB & MySQL Finland AB & TCX DataKonsult AB, Monty Program AB 2016 MariaDB Corporation AB This is due to the fact that mariadb-10.3 now includes the code of mariadb-connector-c as the client library, instead of the original mysql client library, that was indeed GPL-2'ed.
