I'm assuming that if you go with (2) you'd drop sphinxdoc:Depends entirely, reducing the footprint of the dependencies even further. Many thanks for maintaining ncmpc in debian. I've been using it for years and it Just Works™ -- i haven't had to worry about it or fiddle with it or anything. Very much appreciated to have something nice to use, simple and functional in easy reach! --dkg
