After todays update of gnome-icon-theme from 2.12.1-2 to 2.14.2-1, evolution shows a lot of white-paper-with-red-cross icons instead of the right icons for "New", "Reply" ... Downgrading gnome-icon-theme solves the problem. Please test, if this is a bug in evolution or if the gnome-icon-theme packages misses icons. In the latter case, please reassign this report to gnome-icon-theme. A sample screenshot of what I see is attached.
