Gave my comments there, and got some feedback from the maintainer, but
no positive answer.

I guess I will do what I wrote there, add a startup script that kills
dunst when running under cinnamon ;-), and try to fix cinnamon that it
starts its own notification service faster.

I guess we can close this bug, nothing one can do at the moment it
seems. Sorry for the noise.
