Hi Matthias I had a look at the Testing Excuses for python3-defaults [1]. Of the 84 packages listed there, most are already passing in unstable and some had regressed in testing. The breakdown of the remaining 22 packages is as follows:
kopanocore FTBFS (#953549) causing the autopkgtests of kopanocore and apparmor to fail sagemath FTBFS (#950147 ) causing the autopkgtests of brial and sagetex to fail ariba FTBFS (#951944) causing the autopkgtests of ariba to fail siconos FTBFS (#952601) causing the autopkgtests of siconos to fail That leaves the 16 packages listed below that are potentially incompatible with Python 3.8. I suspect some would FTBFS when rebuilt with Python 3.8, I will check on Reproducible Builds and file bugs where necessary.
