Do you mean backports policies here? It is an almost entirely-
separate team and policies that manage and govern backports compared
to the main stable repository. If you did indeed mean this, then yes,
adding the config files to the backports repo would be just fine and,
indeed, what backports is "for" in some way.
This is, as I'm sure you're all assuming, unless I amm missing
something very special about these config files and/or they would
cause regressions in deployed systems, etc. etc.
