nip2 cannot be cross built from source, because its transitive dependency on the host architecture python cannot be installed. The host python is pulled via libvips-dev's dependency on python3-dev and python3-all-dev. I looked into the package, but I couldn't find any python mentioned anywhere. Why do you need these dependencies? The changelog mentions that python bindings were recently removed. Is this a left-over? Can you simply drop these dependencies from the libvips-dev binary package?
