I think it makes sense. As things are right now, you need the cert package or freschlam will fail by default. It is not strictly required because you could use a private mirror or use http:// prefix at the beginning of the hostname and it should use not use https (that is what I noticed in the source code). Worth noting: apt is `essential' and recommends ca-certificates so there is atleast one package on the system recommending it. If I try to remove ca-certificates on any of my systems apt then wants to remove packages which I wouldn't expect that they depend on it :) Sebastian
