I had an error on mecab package building for ruby 2.7. https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=mecab&arch=amd64&ver=0.996-9%2Bb1&stamp=1582046522&raw=0 It is caused by ambiguous definition of rb_define_virtual_variable. It had already reported on the upstream, may be the following link is workaround. https://github.com/swig/swig/issues/1689#issuecomment-569448002
