yeah, i figured as much. there *were* some initscript-related bugs
fixed in -2, so i'm thinking the latest package may fix it. if you
don't want to drag something in from sid, and don't feel like waiting
another 7 days for the latest and greatest to make it to sarge, take a
look at bug #294178 and see if the suggested fix solves your problem,
since the symptoms look pretty similar.
