What kernel do you use? It's likely related to the *Xorg* driver, which is modesetting. A workaround has been added in the Linux kernel in unstable. See https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=870641 for example (sorry, this is a mess because everyone reported a new bug on various packages).
