Hi We are working on fixing this issue in this upstream PR:
https://github.com/mesonbuild/meson/pull/6457 The PR requires some fixes still, but if someone could test and verify that it fixes the issue in this bug it would be useful. We'll make the 0.53.1 release immediately after that PR has been merged to master.
