Thanks for this! Though it's not really practical to use merge requests to
apply a new upstream release. Next time, better ask someone in the team
to import the new upstream release so that you can work from there...

The merge request doesn't update the upstream tags, it also creates noises
with the merge commits, and lacks the update to pristine-tar.

I did all this manually this time to compensate and I merged your work.
An upload will follow soon.
