At this time the bug remains unreproducible with the provided information, and it seems like something in your Emacs config is causing this issue; Please do not modify the state of the unreproducible tag. When sufficient information has been provided to reproduce this issue I will drop that tag. I am prioritising #948567, and hope you will do the same. Previously this bug (#948569) seemed to have been most likely caused by #948567, but that isn't the case with the step 1. you just provided. eg: if elpy was upgraded, and the user had custom ffip config, then the user ran apt autoremove, the result would be "Symbol’s value as variable is void: ffip-prune-patterns". #948567 has at least two clear avenues of resolution, whereas this one has none at this time, thus the former is a better use of free time.
