Two packages doing different things to a shared conffile will break. Is it possible to call lightdm with a different config file as a command line parameter? Then you could divert the lightdm binary and ship a wrapper script that calls the diverted binary with your custom config file. And the two conffiles would exist side by side. Andreas
I'd rather suggest dropping a file in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/.The lightdm packages comes with an empty (all-commented-out) /etc/lightdm.conf. So, it just runs with its default settings which could all be overridden by a dropped in conf file.
Any objections?
