Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hi,

I maintain swi-prolog in Debian and would like to provide its
documentation in swi-prolog-doc. Unfortunately, there's the
swi-prolog-doc package in Debian, which is orphaned and very outdated.
As I can see the package contains SWI-Prolog documentation from the
SWI-Prolog web-site. SWI-Prolog source code contains the source for
the documentation.

The current version of the swi-prolog-doc package is 5.6.59-2 (from
Feb 2014), the current version of the swi-prolog package is
8.0.3+dfsg-1 (from Oct 2019).

I strongly believe that it's better to remove the outdated
swi-prolog-doc package. So, it would be possible to build
documentation from the swi-prolog source package, which is up-to-date.

Thanks for considerations! Let me hear about any suggestions
concerning the reported issue.

With regards,
Lev Lamberov
