Source: pam Severity: wishlist Now that Debian has libxcrypt in place of the old crypt(3) implementation from glibc, we need a newer version of the PAM package to actually use the modern password hashing methods.
Fedora has backported from the PAM upstream repository a few patches like this one: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/pam/c/2842b2a1ee2f79cc532cf5409a016308e40004bf But since a new release of PAM does not appear to be forthcoming then maybe you could just package an upstream snapshot. -- ciao, Marco
