Package: lightdm Version: 1.26.0-6+b1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
We have many machines that automount home directories on demand; user authentication is held in LDAP. lightdm as part of its operations seems to visit (and therefore cause an expensive and slow NFS mount) the home directory of every user in LDAP, instead of only the user logging in. This slows things down a lot for logging into a machine. I'd expect lightdm not to touch any directory other than its own (for logging and config), and the currently logging in user's home directory. -- System Information: Debian Release: bullseye/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 5.3.0-3-amd64 (SMP w/12 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_AU:en (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages lightdm depends on: ii adduser 3.118 ii dbus 1.12.16-2 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.73 ii libaudit1 1:2.8.5-2+b1 ii libc6 2.29-3 ii libgcrypt20 1.8.5-3 ii libglib2.0-0 2.62.3-2 ii libpam-systemd [logind] 244-3 ii libpam0g 1.3.1-5 ii libxcb1 1.13.1-2 ii libxdmcp6 1:1.1.2-3 ii lightdm-gtk-greeter [lightdm-greeter] 2.0.6-1 ii lsb-base 11.1.0 Versions of packages lightdm recommends: ii xserver-xorg 1:7.7+20 Versions of packages lightdm suggests: pn accountsservice <none> ii upower 0.99.11-1 pn xserver-xephyr <none> -- Configuration Files: /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf changed [not included] -- debconf information: lightdm/daemon_name: /usr/sbin/lightdm * shared/default-x-display-manager: lightdm -- Dr Peter Chubb Tel: +61 2 9490 5852 http://ts.data61.csiro.au/ Trustworthy Systems Group CSIRO's Data61
