The underlying cause of this bug is GCC behavior. This could be fixed by changing GCC, if the GCC maintainers agreed that it was a bug (they seem not to). Thus, I'm assigning this bug back to samhain. It's not a bug in Autoconf, only in Samhain's use of it. (It's like blaming a C library instead of the code that calls into it wrongly.)
