What would you say if Lintian were to catch the parsing error and issue the old tags---the ones with clearer names---when those conditions apply? When those conditions are not identified, Lintian could perhaps issue other helpful tags and only fall back on the bland 'malformed-debian-changelog-version' as a last resort. Kind regards Felix
