First datapoint: according to Debian's udev maintainer, support for
/dev/bus/usb/ requires:
udev >= 0.066-1
libusb-0.1-4 >= 2:0.1.10a-22
a kernel >= 2.6.14
I will have to check coldplug. One potential issue with coldplugging is
that it might be run before all filesystems are available.
