Package: owncloud-client Version: 2.5.1.10973+dfsg-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
When adding a new server, the password dialog doesn't strip a trailing newline. Seems that most password fields do that these days. Context is password stores where one copies a whole line (e.g. with triple click in a terminal), which includes the trailing newline: when this kind of content is pasted into the vast majority of password fields, the trailing newline (possibly CR/LF) gets stripped. Not so with Owncloud Client, which reports an authentication failure as a result. To reproduce: - If you have a terminal-based password store, the password may well be displayed on its own line in the terminal. - The easiest way to copy this is just to triple-click, selecting the whole line, including trailing newline. - When pasted into the OwnCloud add server dialog's password field, the newline isn't stripped out, resulting in authentication failure. - Expected behaviour would be that the trailing newline is stripped, and authentication succeeds.
