Package: kernel-package
Version: 10.039
Severity: normal

I append version information to each of my kernels (as I'm sure many
people do) to keep track of them. Near the end of the build cycle an
error is generated:

The UTS Release version in include/linux/version.h
"2.6.16-jdietri2-1-686-smp"
does not match current version
"2.6.16"
Please correct this.

This behavior occurred beginning in v10.038 and continues with v10.039.
Makes building a kernel with a custom version string impossible on my
machine. No error is generated when the appending string is empty, and a
downgrade to v10.036 eliminates the behavior.
