It’s certainly regression that breaks people’s scripts. I would say that the impact is small, but it’s there, and we should not have this kind of regressions in stable.
My advise is not to wait for 1.1.1e, but fix it earlier; the time between 1.1.1c and 1.1.1d was 5 months and that’s too long to have a regression like this in stable releases.
