When I sent this bug report, I was using the 4.11-1 Debian package. The dotnet35sp1 wasn't installing, returning that errors. The upstream commit 7cd3c9f0734d217e1d08319e72a9df91fe2ef882 [1] triggered the mingw issue, and this was between wine-4.10 and wine-4.11. I just tested here with wine-4.16 (Debian 4.16-1) and the dotnet35sp1 install was unsuccessful. $ env WINE=$(which wine-development) winetricks dotnet35sp1 So, it might be that my assumption is wrong for Debian package. When I posted my finding upstream, I was building wine from git in Arch Linux, and was able to install dotnet35sp1 from 4.15 that was previously failing.
