I've set the forwarded URL to the preexisting upstream issue on the removal of Rope. If upstream changes its mind about the removal. The current upstream maintainer doesn't use this functionality, so it's effectively unmaintained. Thanks for the reminder ;-) Salman initially proposed a Recommends, which I NACKed, (see above paragraph and URL, esp previous maintainer's NACK of Rope usage for rationale), and also because IIRC Antoine (anarcat) said he didn't use it either in his initial RFP.
