I strongly prefer upstreaming the patch, because in that case we can collaborate with buildroot, ptxdist, and yocto. The patch was written in an upstreamable way. At least I hope so. I'm happy to answer questions from upstream and have done so for other patches already. Please understand, that I cannot take the time to understand each and every upstream's idiosyncrasies.
