building the package cheops in a clean sid build environment (with pbuilder) on i386 results in: ========================================================================= [...] dpkg-source -b cheops-0.61 dpkg-source: warning: no utmp entry available and LOGNAME not defined; using uid of process (65534) dpkg-parsechangelog: warning: no utmp entry available and LOGNAME not defined; using uid of process (65534) debian: warning: no utmp entry available and LOGNAME not defined; using uid of process (65534) dpkg-architecture: warning: no utmp entry available and LOGNAME not defined; using uid of process (65534) dpkg-source: building cheops using existing cheops_0.61.orig.tar.gz dpkg-source: building cheops in cheops_0.61-13.diff.gz dpkg-source: building cheops in cheops_0.61-13.dsc debian/rules build dh_testdir ./configure --prefix=/usr --mandir=\${prefix}/share/man --infodir=\${prefix}/share/info --enable-snmp creating cache ./config.cache checking for gcc... gcc checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) works... yes checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) is a cross-compiler... no checking whether we are using GNU C... yes checking whether gcc accepts -g... yes checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking how to run the C preprocessor... gcc -E checking for ANSI C header files... yes checking for fcntl.h... yes checking for sys/ioctl.h... yes checking for sys/time.h... yes checking for unistd.h... yes checking for working const... yes checking for size_t... yes checking whether time.h and sys/time.h may both be included... yes checking for Snmp libraries support... checking for net-snmp-config... no configure: error: SNMP specified but could not find /usr/include/ucd-snmp/snmp_api.h make: *** [build-stamp] Error 1 ========================================================================= This comes from libsnmp4.2-dev being installed instead of needed libsnmp9-dev. This can be fixed by depending directly on libsnmp9-dev instead of libsnmp-dev or by making sure that all libsnmp-dev providing packages work.
