Correct, I think this is not an upstream issue. It's a packaging issue. The only thing that mariadb upstream could do here is officially deprecate mariadb_config. I'm not sure whether you want that though. > pkg-config just works and you already have the script? Yeah, I'm asking for integrating it into the Debian package. The Debian package could replace the shipped mariadb_config ELF executable with the generated shell script. Doing so would make a number of downstream packages that don't use pkg-config cross buildable. Helmut
