If this is not the case my and your time is > wasted to find out more The file /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/head in Debian stretch looks like this: # Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8) # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN You can verify that yourself by downloading the package from a Debian mirror and inspecting it, e.g. with mc.
