What about list of "controversal" checks, that are hidden by default, and are enabled one-by-one with something like lintian --enable-controversal-check missing-gitlab-ci ( We all know how to write shell aliases. ) I suggest makeing it impossible to turn of all controversal by single flag (or it will become extra-pedantic), and refer in documentation to /usr/share/lintian/checks/controversal.desc -- Note, that I send and fetch email in batch, once every 24 hours.
