Hi, I'm still affected by this (must close timidity and restart pulseaudio after a reboot), and judging from the comment https://superuser.com/questions/1312163/dummy-output-instead-of-audio-device-on-debian-9/1346784?noredirect=1#comment2168375_1346784 I'm not the only person affected. So afaict the bug is still present.
