Package: libxcb-xinput-dev Version: 1.13.1-2 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
Having the Debian Unstable repository available (even with a low priority) causes libxcb-xinput-dev to be installable, but leaves the older libxcb1-dev from Debian Stable. This results in compilation errors from any app that attempts to #include the xinput headers, due to a version incompatibility. The solution is to uninstall libxcb-xinput-dev, or to migrate far more packages to the newer version (including upgrading libc). The problem appears to be a simple packaging issue, where the dependency is shown as simply "libxcb1-dev" with no version information attached. If it declared that it required libxcb1-dev version 1.13.1-2, this would inform apt correctly. -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.7 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable'), (50, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-8-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_AU.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_AU:en (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages libxcb-xinput-dev depends on: pn libxcb-xinput0 <none> ii libxcb1-dev 1.12-1 libxcb-xinput-dev recommends no packages. libxcb-xinput-dev suggests no packages.
