I agree about stat-override - see Debian Policy ยง10.9.1 how to do that.

Account should however *not* be removed, because it may have been reused 
for files outside the control of the package (e.g. by copying files to 
another folder) and access rights then being broken and potentially 
cause security risks of account number is later reused for other 
purposes (I am surprised I cannot find a section about this in Policy).
