Package: cyrus-imapd
Version: 2.5.10-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I ran into a couple of bumps on the way to the upgrade. In brief, the http
service doesn't seem to work,
and the names in some currently commented out jobs are no longer valid.

   * What led up to the situation?
I belatedly upgraded a system running cyrus from Jessie to Stretch.
I manually adjusted a lot of configuration files.
When I tried to restart cyrus-imapd, it failed, apparently because of a
problem with http:
Apr 19 12:34:11 ross-mail systemd[1]: Started Cyrus IMAP/POP3 daemons.
Apr 19 12:34:11 ross-mail cyrus/ctl_cyrusdb[9860]: skiplist: clean shutdown
file missing, updating recovery stamp
Apr 19 12:34:11 ross-mail cyrus/ctl_cyrusdb[9860]: recovering cyrus databases
Apr 19 12:34:11 ross-mail cyrus/ctl_cyrusdb[9860]: done recovering cyrus
databases
Apr 19 12:34:12 ross-mail cyrus/cyr_expire[9863]: Expired 0 and expunged 0 out
of 1209976 messages from 54 mailboxes
Apr 19 12:34:12 ross-mail cyrus/cyr_expire[9863]: duplicate_prune: pruning back
3.00 days

of 0 entries
Apr 19 12:34:12 ross-mail cyrus/tls_prune[9866]: tls_prune: purged 0 out of 0
entries
Apr 19 12:34:12 ross-mail cyrus/master[9859]: cannot find executable for
service 'http'
Apr 19 12:34:12 ross-mail cyrus/master[9859]: exiting
Apr 19 12:34:12 ross-mail systemd[1]: cyrus-imapd.service: Main process exited,
code=exited, status=78/n/a
Apr 19 12:34:12 ross-mail systemd[1]: cyrus-imapd.service: Unit entered failed
state.
Apr 19 12:34:12 ross-mail systemd[1]: cyrus-imapd.service: Failed with result
'exit-code'.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

Reviewed my old conf and the new one; I think both had the http service
uncommented.
Internet search and check of bugs.debian.org didn't turn up much, which
seems a little odd.
The search did suggest that the error, even if fatal for http, shouldn't be
fatal for
   the other services.
Checked that all recommended packages were installed.
Commented out the http, since I'm not even sure what it provides (is it
related to caldav?
   I'm not using caldav.)
This ended the complaints about http, but showed a new problem, which may
have been
the real reason for the original failure of imapd.

'exit-code'.

That was the squatter_a job in cyrus.conf. I had this uncommented from before.
So I deleted the _ from it and from squatter_1 just above it.
Both are commented out in the files distributed with the package, and so
wouldn't cause a complaint.
But if anyone uncomments them, I believe it will fail.

   * What was the outcome of this action?
cyrus is now running. I don't know if the fact that http is not there
matters.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
That it ran the first time :)
